Hi! This is my first time posting so please forgive me if I am not doing this correctly or in the wrong place...

I have a friend who just moved to a new place and found this flowering plant in her backyard area..we were wondering just what it may be?

    Can anyone help us?
    pic is attached (I hope..*smile*)

    Thanks!

What you have there is a Common Mullein Verbascum thapsus, generally considered a weed but some folks like the flowers.

Wow..that was quick! Thanks so much for your help! Never would've guess how common this was considering this is the first I can remember having seen one like it.

    Thanks again!

Glad I could help. Mullein grew rampant in my folks cow pasture when I was growing up and I battle it these days in my yard and garden. As I said, some people like the flowers but be aware, it reseeds itself readily and will overtake the area if you're not careful.

The flower looks like a type bees would enjoy. Are there many bees around this flower?
