OK, so at first I thought it was a marigold plant, then I thought it was a tomato plant. Now, I am pretty certain it is a weed as I see smaller versions on the side of the road. I like its leaves, but not sure what the roots are up to. Looks like a little conical head is finally forming. Trying to determine if I should wait for the flower (anything impressive?) prior to yanking ... Thank you in advance.
Probably not what you wanted to hear, but it looks like common ragweed (Ambrosia artemisifolia). I wouldn't wait for it to bloom, for obvious reasons. :)
I just Googled images, and you are absolutely correct. How embarassing that I could not ID such a common weed! ... Thank you Chanticleer for your response!
