I am posting on this thread although my query may not be quite germane. What do we do with the original plant bulb/rhizome now that all the leaves have died and the seed pods are green? My mother pulled the plant out of the garden when it was there some 18 months, having survived our very mild winter here in the northeast. I put it back in a pot with earth and watered it. I'm not so handy I want to deal with the seeds but if the original base of the plant should be viable what should I do with it? dry it out? put it back in the ground over winter [well protected]? or is it spent and no longer viable...especially since it was uprooted when it might not have wanted to be. Oh...it took SO long to get blooms on it. I hate to let it go.
