Hello! I was given two Calamondin/Calamansi saplings from my wife’s aunt in the fall. They were very sickly and yellow when we received them and smaller than 1 inch. After receiving them, they started to grow quite fast. They were initially growing bushy with a few branches sprouting out when they hit about 3 inches tall. I wanted a tree-like shape so I cut the branches off, figuring they would grow branches higher up. They continued to grow but now they are over two feet tall and have no branches. Any guesses as to why no branches are sprouting? Did I screw them up by cutting off the initial branches? They are currently on a North-facing balcony and get the morning sunlight, about 4 hours of direct light and rest indirect/reflections. The only thing I can figure is a lack of light so I’m going to try putting them under a strong grow light but in saying that, I have a couple of succulents growing beside them and it seems like they are getting enough light. Thank you[IMG]

Citrus with an actively growing tip send hormones down the branch that suppresses shoots from starting. Once they are at the desired height pinch the tip off and they will start growing branches.

Thank you. I'll let it grow another 30 cm and pinch it off. It's growing almost 1 cm a day. I'll re-pot next year to a more suitable pot.
