I hope I am posting this correctly..here goes. Our Cala Lilies are forming what I think are seeds and my wife is hoping to try and grow a plant from these. Is this possible? I usually pick these off but let a few go and they are quite a size. If anyone can give direction it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just wash all the flesh off, store the seeds dry until spring, then start them in fairly warm conditions.

Zantedeschia germinate readily. Remove the pulp and wash the seeds in a mild solution of joy or other detergent. Rinse well.

They can be planted immediately or stored in nearly dry condition for later planting.

One trick is to force them. Sow them, let them grow, when they go dormant, store in the refrigerator in baggies in just moist media for 2 months. Remove and plant for a second growth. And so on.

Using this technique you can get them to bloom in 2 to 3 years instead of 5. The technique is more fully described in the archives of Arisaema-L, a discussion list for hardy Aroids like Arisaema, Arum, Zantedeschia, etc.
which is available to AEG (Arisaema Enthusiasts Group) members.

Growing conditions will be different for Z. aethiopica than for other Z. because it is evergreen. Of course, do not expect seedlings of hybrids to be like the parent.
