    Looks like Mammillaria spinosissima to me. :)

    Thanks, Susan! :) I don't always get them correctly identified, but I give it a shot. I just happened to have a couple of these. Yes, there are SO many in the genus!

    Looks like Sylvia hasn't been back to check for responses. I forgot to say earlier...if you got it from WalMart, chances are the tag (if it had one) said "cactus species".

    right on. their growers probably purchase unidentified seeds in bulk - all correctly labeled "cactus"
