I have had this cactus for years, actually, this is a start from "great grandma cactus" that I got her from a greenhouse 12 years ago. Can anyone tell me what it is so I can study more about it?

    Lovely echinopsis! Obviously very happy.

Is the plant surrounded by some kind of blanket or carpet?

Any thoughts on removing some of the 'pups' so that the mama plants are so overwhelmed?

I didnt know to leave it alone; re pot the pups put the whole family in a bigger pot or what. It is actually planted in a clay pot, 3 tall and 12 round. You can barely see the pot anymore and I planted 8 pups in there the year before last!
Thanks for the comment; I will consider what I need to do based on the feedback I get.
