Hello all, so recently my cactus who I've had for almost a year has started to turn white and I have no explanation. Someone please help? What's causing this and how can I stop it? Thanks
I have seen that on cacti that have lost their roots in summer while they still were exposed to strong light. Is it limited to areas exposed to the sun?
I just had the same issue with what I believe is the same type if cactus. I got it about a month and a half ago, it came with a white fuzz on it. A friend said it was natural so I let it be. Over the month it's been turning white from the bottom up. You're only supposed to water it once a month according to the instructions, and I did so a few days ago. All of a sudden it's now totally white. Is it possible it's getting too much sunlight or I accidentally over watered it?
Regarding white fuzz, they're supposed to have that. Here is one type of barrel cactus: Notocactus Rubibuenekeri (Parodia scopa ssp. rudibuenekeri) If you mean the green skin (whatever it's called) of the cactus turning white, that could be sunburn.
