Probably an off question and I think the answer might be no, but it's worth a shot.

Forum users helped me identify my cactus seen in the image and suggested that cutting it down might help its quality of life since it's so oddly shaped now.

I am going to try to cut it into a few pieces to see if any take, I am wondering if there is a way to get the "top" of any cutting to grow together so that the callus is smaller. I have read about cutting the ribs back but I an wondering about a sort of rounded top instead of a flat callus, the image gives a vague idea of what I'm trying to say

You want to remove a section in the middle and graft the top of the plant to the bottom part? Possible but unusual, I don't think I have heard of anyone trying that before.
An advantage would be that it (probably) would not start to branch, as often happens when the top is cut off, and it would look more "real".
A possible problem could be that grafts are more susceptible to rot and mould before the wounds have healed.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I'll also try to keep a photo journal in the hope that if something works I can share (or share is something doesn't work too)
