    Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone has tried Butia Capitata in the Greater Vancouver area outdoors with any success. It looks like a really attractive palm and I am thinking of getting one. Any advice would be most helpful. Thanks!

I just saw one a couple of weeks ago at Denman and Pacific in Vancouver it was 4 to 5 feet tall. A friend also has one growing outside in N Van he wraps Christmas lights
around it for cold winter nights and protects the centre shoots from the wet and freezing
    cycles.
I have mine in a pot untill it gets more mature (I bring all my potted palms into my unheated attached garage for winter)

Well I'm not in Vancouver but Vancouver Island. Here's mine in my front garden which I've had for about 8 years. It does well in the rocky, sandy soil I have.
