Any idea what these bushes are? The first one has skinny really sharp thorns. I've lived here three summer seasons and haven't seen any bloom.
#3 - Could be a variety of Skimmia japonica. Crush some of its leaves - if this gives a pleasant scent, it's probably skimmia.

Light: Sun but is shade tolerant. Moisture: Likes moisture but drought tolerant when established. Water well to keep it looking its best.
