I recently noticed that a borer has left its trail at the base of my beloved Pinus wallichiana. The tree is young and newly planted as of last summer, in an open, south facing position. Does anyone know what this could be or whether this is worthy of serious concern? If so, what can I do? I had thought this was a relatively disease/pest resistant tree.

    thank you kindly,
    M

Thank you Michael again for taking the time.

Here is an attached pic at the base of the tree.
