Hi, I would be obliged if someone could tell me what causes the "burnt" problem on the tip of this Gasteria leaf. It was already present when I bought the plant at a car boot sale, and is restricted to just two of the leaves. Once more, many thanks. Weeed
If it is just a few leaves, it is likely, those few leaves are older and are about to die off. That is how the plant goes about it's life cycle. Older leaves will begin to dry out at the tip, then eventually the whole leave will dry out. You can then clip off the old foliage. No problems. If, on the other hand, many leaves are involved, it likely received too much fertilizer. Fertilizer salts build up in the soil and begin burning out the leave tips. Common to many plants and easily remedied with a soil change and/or a good thorough soaking in clean water. Mark
Once again, many thanks, Mark, for your time and expertise. I wish I could tell you how many books and online articles I rummaged through without getting a really satisfactory explanation like this. Great stuff. Best wishes, Dick
