I am having trouble with my maple tree. It has burn like spots all over it. Wen you touch the spot it just crumbles like ashes.
    Thank you for your help

Hard to say without seeing the leaves, but from what you describe I would agree with Ron. Sounds like tar spot. Tar spot is caused by a fungus. Fungi love wet weather. Has your season been excessively wet?

We have had super wet and prolonged spring here in NW CA and this has produced ideal conditions for Tar Spot on some of my maples. It appears as small black dots or halos on the leaves. Some cultivars are more susceptible than others. Sometimes in extreme cases it even makes the leaves crinkled. All in all your tree should be fine. (I just may look bad). It should put out new growth later in the season and the fungus won't be active.

    Can you post a photo?
