I know this isn't quite the right place to be posting this thread but it was the most similar. I am going to get a green house specifically for citrus and similar subtropical kind of plants as well as possibly an indoor pond with either some koi or freshwater tropicalfish. Obviously the pond and greenhouse will need heating, I was just wondering what the most cost effective means of heating would be? I live in the north of England so sometimes it can get a bit nippy in winter.

Also I quite like the diea of it being a greenhouse partially built into the ground dont know if that would affect the cost though.

    Thanks, Melorious

    Melorious,
There are so many factors to consider when talking about costs to build a greenhouse. I would suggest you contact some folks that build and design them, no need for you to re-invent the wheel.
To answer your specific questions - I believe the most effective means to heat a greenhosue would be hot water going through aluminum fin distribution.
In reference to building your GH partially in the ground - that is a good idea as the ground would provide a good heat sink, although you need to consider drainage issues.
Feel free to check out a forum we have on our site dedicated to greenhouses.
