Building a cactus garden

    I need some in detail instructions on how the pro cati people would build a cactus garden,and when I say build, I mean the minerals sand, pea gravel,dirt,rocks, whatever it takes to have a succsessful garden.How many inches of sand? ect. Thank You in advance for your help

    My question would be what kind of cacti are you interested in growing. Some can tolerate quite a bit of organic material in the planting bed, while others require nearly complete inorganic materials.

    I live in zone 6, and the cold also affects the way I plant my cacti. The colder temps require better drainage around the roots, IME. I really tailor my greenhouse bedding projects to a specific type of cactus I'm interested in growing.
