Hi, I live in Orlando Florida and from what I read Buffalo grass should work here, but when I look at the map of where they recommend it we are not in that zone. Can anyone tell me more?

Buffalo grass needs alkaline, clay soils and may have fungal problems in
rainfall in excess of 35 inches per year. Must have full sun and is a poor
competitor to weeds and aggressive grasses (Think Bermudagrass).

The soil is sandy. Clay is in Georgia. Sunny area and nothing is growing there. Thanks for the advice though. I have St. Augustine but I ave some bald patches that I would like to fill in with grass that doesn't need as much water.

I lived in Tampa for 15 years so I know the score.
Might try Empire Zoysia if you're adventurous.

Yeah, I had Zoysia at my last house and it did well. The last time I bought it, I had to buy a whole pallet. I only need enough for about a 10X10 space. I will check around. Thanks.
