hello, i was secretly taking care of my mother's old plant, which i think is bryophyllum crenatum. she always hated the plant, so late in december she threw it in the trash (not noticing the fantastic new growth, happy leaves). i found it the next day, and although it had lost so many leaves, it looked like it was recovering. however, it now has a super dry stem, and the leaves are going back to their post-trash look: pale, not plump and a few are wrinkled. i understand that it's not getting the water (i think) it needs. i think i need to cut the stem and attempt to grow new roots, but i'm so shy to do it. here's a photo, but i have a bad camera and one hand (of mine) isn't working. any advice on how to cut the plant, how to treat it post-cut, and if i'm right about the species is much appreciated. thanks, amy ps. the plant now lives with me.
