I have had an aloe plant in my south window for about 9 months now. It has been thriving all along, but today I noticed that the tips are tinting a slight brownish color. Some of them were starting to touch against the window; so I figured that might be a part of it. But some of the ones that weren't touching have also taken on this brownish tint. The plant looks otherwise healthy and I haven't changed my watering schedule at all. Any ideas? I'll post some more pictures of the tips, along with one of the plant itself when I get fresh batteries for the camera later today.
I'm pretty sure it is normal with the variety you have. It seems to come with age and light exposure. It's fine and there isn't anything wrong with it. As another note: Aloes are not plants that do well with watering schedules. Especially now that winter approaches, you run the risk of rotting the roots. Just let the soil go TOTALLY dry between watering, and don’t water them more than once a month Nov-Feb. Yes, that is very little, but that’s what succulents like. Besides, they are sleeping in the winter so they aren't growing anyhow.
Thank you for your reply. One thing I wanted to mention is that by "watering schedule" I didn't mean it was steady...just like you said, letting it dry out slightly between waterings. So once a month or so during the dark part of the year? Makes sense. Thanks for all of your advice.
