I have a number of mature spruce trees & up until this year they all seemed quite healthy. Early this spring I noticed the spruce in the front yard was turning brown, from the trunk out the the ends. The new growth seems to be fine at the moment. It also seems to be working its way from the ground up.
My biggest concern is the healthy blue spruce next to it may become infected with whatever is affecting the other spruce.
What is doing this? Can I stop it? How do I stop it.
Thanks for any help you might be able to offer.

Any pics? A general shot of the whole tree, plus a close-up of the affected foliage, would help.

I'd love to take & pic & send it but DIAL-UP just doesn't let that happen. I tried before with the tiny mushrooms & they are too hard to see.
Trust me when I say the spruce is BROWN(not a natural colour) & it isn't pretty. I need to know if it is a bug, disease or what is making it that colour??? And what can I do about it.
    Thanks for any help

I checked for aphids & there aren't any.
