I've recently purchased a Dwarf Magenta Cherry (Syzygium paniculatum dwarf) from a nursery and repotted it the next day. Within a week, brown leaves start to appear. It sits in a large pot in a sunny spot in the garden. I'm not sure why this is happening. I've been watering it every alternate days. Can anyone advise? Thanks.

If moved from shade to sun may burn from change in exposure. If potted in mix with lots of fertilizer or other source of mineral salts may be getting burned by that.

    Thanks Ron!

What is the best time to do gardening so as not to stress the plants too much?

In spring, though there are a handful of plants that prefer to be worked on in late Aug., or early summer, etc. However, the problem with the cherry could be that it's not happy in the new soil mix (how much grit did you put in the new pot vs the old one - is it draining faster or slower?). Putting it in light shade for the rest of the summer (there) might be a good idea. In a couple of weeks, make a small, firm scratch on the trunk to see if its still green underneath, which will tell you if it's surviving the change.

Considering where the original poster is from, I think late Feb. instead of late Aug!
