I was hoping someone out there could help me with a question. We were on the verge of buying one or two Swedish columnar aspens for out yard in Calgary when we heard that bronze leaf disease (BLD) has made its way here. Swedish columnar aspens and Tower poplars seem to be extremely popular in Calgary, to the point that there don't seem to be any other options for columnar deciduous trees in the nurseries and garden stores we've explored. So my question is would we be crazy to plant a Swedish columnar aspen given the spead of BLD? How bad is BLD? We've read that there is currently no treatment but have seen very little about the prognosis for an infected tree. Any info/help/suggestions would be welcome. Thanks!
