grrrr I was carrying my new pointsettia to the car and the wind knocked the bag out of my hands. I grabbed the bad, thankfully, but an 8 inch stem was broken in the process. My question is how best to propagate the unwilling cutting? I've had problems getting these little guys started in the past.

    Any help is appreciated,

    thanks,

    Ryan

rooting of a stem with an inflorescence is likely to be poor. the stem is going to have a hormonal set to produce blooms while the broken base is expected to produce roots, usually the opposite of what it would be normally expressing.

I was wondering if something like that would happen :(. I suppose that it was a stroke of luck then that I cut the cutting into two parts :). The cutting from the base did not include any of the bracts. I ended up putting them in a 50-50 mix of perlite and peat so I hope that the one that does not include the bract will root for me.

Thank you both for the help :),

    Cheers,

    Ryan
