broad leafy plant with hardy stem and purple berries?

    any idea what this is? it grew wild this year. grean berries turn dark purple.

    Callicarpa are woody shrubs with berries in small bunches close to the stems, running up and down the stems - not in spike-like clusters pointing out from herbaceous stems.

    Thank you all for your quick reply. I beleive it is definately Pokeweed aka Phytolacca americana
    Common Names: pokeweed, poke, poke salad, scoke, pigeon berry, inkberry
    Family: Phytolaccaceae (pokeweed Family) , according to this site I found

    As interesting as it is, I think I'll keep my eye on it so that it doesn't take over my life! lol
