I have a dead tree branch I found in a wood and I want to use it for an indoor display. I would like to plant it with air plants, do I need to treat the wood to kill bugs and fungus etc and if so what should I use and where would I find it?

Perhaps let it dry in the garage for a few weeks prior to placing the air plants. I used to "plant" air plants on drift wood and burl wood. just use a hot glue gun and put a dab or small ring on the slightly callused part of the "root" area.
