I have 2 Bradford Pears and a flowering cherry, all just 1 to 2 years old, and they all three are starting to die. The branch starts to turn brown (like a dead brown line up the branch with a line of holes) and then the leaves start to die. Where the branch turns brown, there are little dots like in a row up the branch. Is this a sign of a disease or insect problem? or a water problem?

Insects would be making such wounds.
