Will my bouganvilla survive if i plant in the ground? I have 3 "La Jolla" bougas and they are just loving this weather. I've read some have had success. Would it be wiser to pot them?
Bottom line is, if there are no others planted in the ground in your area which have survived at least a few years, it would be safer to pot it, and then give it protection for the Winter. They thrive in hot dry climates with mild winters and don't withstand long periods of subzero temps. A Winter like 08/09 would kill it for sure. We lost 5 Ligustrum Japonicums that year as well as many other shrubs etc...it makes a good benchmark. Good luck!!
