do bouganvillas grow in the north? probably not but hopefully you can answer my question or you will know where to send me for an answer.

two of my three bouganvilla vines have lost most of their leaves and there are bark shavings on the ground under the vine. They are not overwatered and for years they have been healthy and thriving. does anyone know what is causing this condition? Could it be rodents eating the bark and killing the vine? Or, is there a disease that causes the bark to fall off in small strips? Thanks:)
