In The Garden: Botanical Name of this Bamboo Variety ?

    Recently I bought this variety of Bamboo from a local plant nursery and I wish to know the botanical name of this species. I have taken the close up shots of the leaves and the shoots too, just to make the identification easier.

    It's a Sasa. From the looks of it, likely Sasa palmata.

    I think instead these are small specimens of one of various large-growing tropical bamboos that are present in India. It will probably not be possible to name them until they are much farther along, unless there is a fully developed parent plant around to look at.

    Didn't note that the poster was in India, so you're likely right. Looking closer, also notice that the culms lack the marbled look of Sasa palmata.
