    If the wild population is tiny, people were plucking them before the article even came out the species could easily be extinct in the wild now. This entire world population being found on only a few sites level of vulnerability is typical for the forested wet tropics, where the common pattern is for large numbers of species to occur in often quite small numbers. Instead of most places elsewhere, where a much smaller set of species will often occupy huge ranges.
