Just as a post script to my original question Re; Borers & Witchetty Grubs, I have since received advise from a palm nursery following an inspection of my plants & it would seem that the problem is over watering, most palms are found naturally grown beside the coastal fringes in somewhat sandy soils where drainage is not a problem and even desert dwelling palms found around oasis and lakes usually have a good drainage base, even the palms found naturally in the soggy rain forest all have a good drainage base, but when we take these plants into suburbia with compacted and clay based soils and then try our best to kill them with kindness by over watering and over feeding them with fancy fertilizers we end up with a rotting mess underground for the grubs and such to come along and feast, in my particular circumstance it was the Witchetty Grub and Cane Beetle, the advise given to me was only to water the lightly once a week until fully established and then let them alone,
if any one out there has had similar experiences or advise i would love to hear their stories.
