    Hello,
I recently moved to China to teach English and have started to become interested in growing (well, maintaining, at least) bonsai plants. I found the following plant, and would like some help identifying it.

It's a little under-watered in this picture, the leaves are a little dry, but perhaps you can help. The leaves appear to me to be a type of shrub, but I know relatively nothing about botany. I'd really appreciate some help.

Are the leaves opposite or alternate? Could you take a close up of the front and back of the leaf? Is there any smell when you crush a leaf? If it ever flowers that is the best time to identify it, get a picture no matter how small and insignificant it is.

Possibly a Jade plant? Are the leaves thick, like a succulent? I have seen bonzais of these before. If that is what this is, I do not know the genus or species, but it is a very common in So. Calif. as indoor and outdoor.
