My Landlord has removed three Blue Spruce trees on the property, now everything looks bare. I notice that very few other plants grow close to Blue Spruces. I want to plant something in place of these trees. Some type of bushes. The stumps were ground up, and there is alot of wood chips. Will anything else grow in the same space?

Next step would be to ignore wood chips and plant something suitable for space available, soil, and exposure, that had desired habit, foliage, flowers or fruits. Either that or excavate chip-laced soil and replace with topsoil of similar texture to original soil, then proceed as above.
