i've a 5 year old spruce tree farm...ornimentals...trees 4-6 feet tall...plan to sell them at 10-12 feet...the bottom branchs are are on the ground...plan to prune them up to 3-6 inches above ground level to make it eaiser for weed control and insect control...does anyone have an idea how high i can prune these.....i know to stay away from turning these trees into lollipop trees....just want to know how high i can prune them...any help thank you, billy
If these are to be sold as trees I would keep as low a branching as possible. If they are to be cut for Christmas it won't matter if they are on a leg. Large specimens of ornamental trees can be hard to move, in two senses of the phrase. Do you have a market identified for 12' blue spruces?
thank you Ron...i live near a resort...and people who build new homes here want to have instant forest in their yards
