The first one was interesting because the leaves were so stiff that you could easily be fooled into thinking the plant was made of metal. I see descriptions of "stiff cardboard leaves", but these weren't nearly as flexible as cardboard.
I kept looking for the second one under Lamiaceae, but I just came across Strobilanthes gossypina, Acanthaceae, and I think this looks like that. Leaf margins almost entire with a thin white edge. Here are two more photos.
