black specks on dendrobium leaves

    hi, i recently bought a large leaved dendrobium and there were black specks on the leaves, are they a fungus infection or are the leaves bred that way???

    There are many variations so I suppose it is possible the spots belong there.

    Can you scrape the black spots off or are they part of the leaf?

    If thet scrape off, dab one with alcohol and see if it drops off. That would be scale insects

    Try and get an image posted of the leaves.
    My feelings are that you are dealing with a plant that is infected with virus. I have seen this as being fairly common with Dendrobium nobile hybrids. Again an image would help!
