    Hello,

My sister has a Persian Walnut tree in her back yard in Kelowna BC. When I heard this I got quite excited, because I want to try my hand at propagating the seeds with a technique that uses bottomless 1 litre milk cartons.

Problem: ALL of the green, smooth green nut pods, have black areas, some consuming the whole pod. It looks as if they have been burnt with a flame and the blck is on the shells themselves.

I have done Google topic and image searches and have not found anything that resembles this condition. Does anyone know what this is and what can be done to rectify the situation?

    Thank you in advance,

    Mike M
