There's not much you can do when you have to lie around on the couch all day. It's my son's seventh birthday and we are trying to figure out what's growing on the plant table. Please send him a happy birthday (seven on the seventh in 07!) and if you know what any of these are it will make him a happy camper.

I read the forum rules and so am asking for help with five plants. (We figured out the Christmas cactus, the aloe vera and the snake plant on our own!) In the mixed planter we're wondering what the one with the dark spots is at the base of the plant.

    Thank you!

OK #3 is a Calathea I believe, as to what sort I don't know
#4 & 5 is an Aroid, maybe Caladium??. Keep this one in a pot as I have it in the backyard and it spreads like wildfire and keeps coming back every spring!!

Marn is right on #3. I said Calathea but I meant Ctenanthe, C.lubbersiana. Sorry for the bum steer...

I agree with Bluewing that #2 looks like Kalanchoe

I'm pretty sure for #1 is some form of Polyscias (such as Polyscias balfouriana otherwise known as Dinner plate Aralia or Balfour Aralia).
    Here's a pic that looks similar http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/54808/

lol that took some digging ;)

I hope that your son is better soon and that he has a good birthday!

Oh, and it also looks like you have a "Dracaena" (spikey type plant, red & green) in the basket of #5.
