Identification: Bird dropping ?

    This patch on the trunk covers about 10" by 6".
    At first I thought it is sh?t from an owl. Closer look
    reveals pores on the surface. Could it be lichen, fungi
    or molds ? Kindly ID please.

    Thank you for the close up shot on this one: There are a number of resupinate poroid fungi, I'm not sure what this is, but I suspect it would not be possible to ID from photos only.
