Biotech foods require more chems?

    I have read this sort of thing before and wonder about the wisdom of some of the plant engineering that is going on.
    Some say that subsistence farming as it used to be was more effective at providing an enduring livelihood of some sort for those who are now committing suicide in places like India, where they are not all able to survive these modern ways.

    Biotech Crops Cause Big Jump in Pesticide Use: Report

    KANSAS CITY - The rapid adoption by U.S. farmers of genetically engineered corn, soybeans and cotton has promoted increased use of pesticides, an epidemic of herbicide-resistant weeds and more chemical residues in foods, according to a report issued Tuesday by health and environmental protection groups.
