Biophilic Design Is Helping Big-City Apartment Towers Get Back to Nature
BD is an interesting concept dating back to the Hanging Gardens of Babylon but increasing in popularity now. More recently than ~2500 years ago, my husband and I were persuaded by an architect friend who designed a house for us in the early 1970s to include 5 huge cantilevered planters. Unfortunately we never explored their potential because the house leaked and we sold it quickly (divulging the bad news of course). I would imagine the technology involved constructing roof-top gardens and patio gardens has improved enormously over the past 50 years.

The idea of incorporating gardens in building design appeals to me still. Biophilic design - Wikipedia
