Wanting to plant a white-barked birch that is non-invasive and reasonably hardy here. Have narrowed it down to Himalayan Birch or native Paper Bark birch. Question: Which of these 2 has more resistance to the Bronze Birch Borer? Is there an alternate white-barked form that may be a better choice? I understand that River Birch is considered the most BBB resistant, but am looking specifically for a white-barked form.

Site seems to be ideal for birch needs, consistently moist year round, almost full sun with shade for the roots, and well away from the foundation/draintile/water/sewer lines.

Any advice appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Consider Betula nigra 'Cully' if you are worried about borers.

We've also found that adequate watering during times of drought help to ward off the Bronze Birch Borer. When the tree has enough water its cambium gets too wet for the pest to tunnel in and this lessens the amount of Borer's damage.
