    Hi guys,
What are the best possible conditions for Curly Willow. We're in the Fraser Valley and have some rather wet, clay soil, full sun conditions and I'm REALLY hopeful that sounds like a good option for 20 new plants.Your thoughts are most welcome.

Full sun and moist/damp. If these are to be cut back and grown as shrubs there is more flexibility than if full development will be permitted, as the full-sized tree is much larger and apt to topple or break up when beginning to age and decline - something that can happen well within a human lifetime.

Thanks very much for your very prompt repsonse Ron B. I intend to 'harvest' these for some local florists therefore they will be cut back once established. As far as the "begininning to age and decline", kinda sounds like me!
With thanks for your most welcome advice, ElO'C.

Try to get Scarlet Curls if you don't have that one as it is more colorful and exciting than the old 'Tortuosa', should be easier to sell for a good price.

I also had one that had really curley golden branches and another willow type for florists that had black straight branches. I am right in assuming you are speaking about what we call tortured willow????. down here.

    Salix matsudana 'Tortuosa'

Probably you are talking about Golden Curls. "Black straight branches" might have been black pussy willow, in addition to dark twigs it also has black catkins.
