The following was received via email: This has to be the most beautiful specimen of this tree that anyone has seen. That was the common compliment that the neighbors or visitors would pay. The branches on the bottom have gone brown and it is spreading to the top. I am not sure why this happened. My neighbor on one side took out a fairly old tree, 30ft away and the other neighbor topped his himilayan fir, 30 ft away as well, all at the same time. Since then, about 7 months ago the tree has been browning. I would like to know if these branches can be cut off. The tree is at least 25 years old. It has a small baby shoot at the bottom growing about 3 1/2 ft in height that is completely green. Some advise would be nice. They do not grown naturally in Victoria BC so not enough experienced people. Elena
