I saw this flower on Instagram and thought it beautiful! I would like an ID which would allow me to see if I am able to grow it in my English garden? If anyone can help I would be most grateful.
It is Hepatica sp..probably Hepatica nobilis. I notice choosing a link that some now call it Anemone...eeck...when did that happen? HEPATICA NOBILIS - Google Search It is a delightful low growing plant....love it. Loves shaded woodland in soil that is not too dry. We used to grow it in Wales and here in Scotland. However I doubt if it would be happy in hot dry Kent. You will not find them in ordinary garden centres. Edrom nursery near Berwick on Tweed sells them as does Ashwood nursery at Kingswinford in the Midlands. Many special ones have been introduced from Japan over the last few years and can cost hundreds of pounds! http://www.edrom-nurseries.co.uk/sh...plier=&withStock=&IDBrand=0&SKU=&order=1&VA=1
They are beautiful! I notice many places sold out. I do have a spot in my garden that may suit them, under a tree which is shady and a bit damp and forgotten. So I shall try and buy some. I notice part of the Buttercup family and I grow Caltha palustris in a pot and enjoy the crazy vivid yellow flowers every year and tip loads of water over it! Thank you for your ID.
