Beautiful Aroid in Royal Mayan in Cancun, Mexico

    I vacationed in Cancun Mexico last week. We stayed at the Royal Mayan, a resort in the Zona Hotelera:

    On the way back and forth from the lobby and our room, we saw this really nice looking aroid. It's not a meconostigma, but very pretty nonetheless:

    I think it is a Xanthosoma, in Mexico we call it "Hoja elegante"= Elegant leaf.

    Cool...it's too bad i did not take a pic with myself next to it...it really was an arresting looking plant....

    It looks more like an Alocasia to me , maybe a macrorrhizos form .

    I agree with "trikus" it could be an Alocacia

    The growth habit is creeping though....it had a short stem, kinda with hairy fibers on it, and bent to the ground, not like the upright Alocasias (but then again, I'm not an expert)...

    I have no idea....I wish I had taken a pic of the stem though....
