Hi, I'm new here. I have been trying for a while now to find info on & to ID this bean plant I have. What better place to try & find out. :) I hope I can get some answers. Several weeks ago I opened my "Magic Bean Sproutz". My plant is coming along rather nicely I think, but it is getting quite large & I'll have to be replanting it again. Does any one know what kind of bean this company uses? I never thought about writing them, that just came to my mind now, but who knows if I'd get a response anyway. It is more than a few feet tall now, has one smaller leaf at the very bottom, and 2 very large leafs opposite each other just above it. A few leaves up farther, and either more leaves on the way, or maybe they will be flowers? It must be some type of runner. I want to know all I can about this plant & the best ways to care for it. Can it be planted outside, will it live through winter? I am located in the NorthEast US. Thanks so much!!! Links below to some photos: First pic - taken in July, just after the bean split open. Next pics - taken today. I think I might even have another one growing too? Closeup pics - you will see it there.
It will not live through the winter as it is an annual runner of some kind....with flowers and beans it will be hard to identify specifically. Simon
In my search, the Message Bean Sproutz were thought to be a bush bean cultivar. (Best guess on ask Yahoo. :) Most beans of the string bean type are cultivars of Phaseolus vulgaris. Whether yours is such I don't know. Harry
