Hello everyone - I'm new to these boards - how interesting they are.

I wonder if anyone can help me.

I have a rather nice Bay Tree (Laurus Nobilis) which is under attack from something that finds its' leaves rather tasteful - approximately 10-20% of its' leaves have been damaged.

Are there any natural remedies - I'd prefer not to use chemicals as I use the leaves in cooking.

    many thanks

diatomaceous earth is an effective organic powder product and purpotedly harmless to mammals etc. try to id the culprit first if you can. if the insect is not visible by day, go out at night! :)

Thanks - had a good look in the dark last night (with a torch  ) but could not find anything munching away.

I did notice that the edge of the leaves where "eaten" have turned black though.

    Any further thoughts?

If the damaged edges have turned brown or black it may be a sign that the damage is not terribly recent, perhaps the critters have come and gone allready.
