I live in Puerto Vallarta part of the year and have been babying along a Bauhinia monandra here. This is the pink variety and evidently is quite rare here. To say the least the tree is not doing well and had one flower for the first time since planting (4 years--flower then eaten by an iguana along with the few buds that it had). This tree currently looks like a "Charlie Brown Christmas tree" unfortunately. Other Bauhinias grow like weeds here, lush foliage and flower prolifically for months.

Does anyone have any information on growing this particular Bauhinia? I don't want to give up on it as the one flower that I saw was beautiful--started off creamy white with one dark magenta petal with darker streaks and the next day the flower turns pale pink with a darker pink peta with streaksl. Would appreciate any help. Thank you.
