    Hi
I am hoping someone can help me decide what to do with my Basjoo Ornamental Banana. During a recent very hot spell, the tree dried out and the leaves are hanging straight down so no new shoots are able to grow. It's not recovering after watering. Would it be wise to cut it down to the base? Someone suggested this to me, but it sounds a bit drastic. I would appreciate any advice. Thank you, Jacki

That's very severe - how long has it been since the hot spell? Have you moved the plant into the shade? Are you misting? Can you post a picture?

    Hi
It's been 10 days since it was unusually warm here. Some of the leaves have torn. I have moved it into a shaded area of my yard, but I haven't misted it. Is this something I should be doing?
This is my first attempt at growing one of these.
I love it and am sad at the shape it's in.
    Thanks for your help.
    Jacki

Mist will help it, as will thorough drenchings in the evenings. Basjoos can be slow to recover from shock, so hang in there - it will come back!

Thank you very much. I'll try misting it.
    Wish me luck!
